MicroNeedling

Benefits of Micro-needling

Micro-needling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment creates micro-punctures in the skin using miniature, sterilized needles.  It is beneficial for many treatments such as acne scars, uneven skin tone, and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment also has benefits that go beyond just the face, and is an effective tool in treating old surgical scars, or scars caused by trauma.  It also can be combined with other modalities.  Benefits include:

  • reducing the appearance of scars, including acne scars
  • improving skin elasticity
  • reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • reducing enlarged pores
  • smoothing uneven skin tone
  • reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, or dark spots
  • promoting hair growth in people with alopecia
  • reducing the appearance of stretch marks
  • reducing the appearance of scars

Micro-needling uses a small motorized head containing fine needles  It is brushed along the skin using a hyaluronic gel to ensure that tiny holes, not tears, are being produced where the needles are applied. The tiny holes, that are purposefully created, stimulate the body to create collagen. Collagen gives skin the firm, lifted appearance seen in young children and teens, but that begins to fade in the mid 20’s. The more collagen the face has, the less pronounced issues, such as deep-set wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging are.
